The Libra Key Description Name: Maryn. Though he is usually addressed simply as 'Key', he will tell his name to a master he trusts or feels close to. Age: 19 Appearance: Maryn has long, black hair down to his waist that he keeps braided at all times. His hair, though, is very fine and the short pieces around his face are always falling out of the braid. His eyes are deep-set and are like mercury, a luminous silver-grey. As many people find his eyes disturbing as find them beautiful. His skin is smooth and unblemished and does not scar. He is very pale and his skin is almost pearly like the inside of a sea shell. Maryn is fine-boned which makes his features seem angular. He is fairly tall, but slender which gives him the appearance of weakness and fragility which, if his master should try to tussle with him, will quickly discover is not the case. Although Maryn is better described as beautiful than merely handsome, there is nothing very feminine about him. He would never be mistaken for a girl. Dress: Maryn wears mainly black because it accentuates his pallor and his dark hair. He wears a sleeveless black tunic belted at the waist with a belt of silver coins and loose black pants gathered in at the ankles. He may also wear a pale yellow robe over top, open and hanging to the knees. Though he is usually barefoot, he will wear black slippers if he is taken out of his room. In the way of jewellery, Maryn wears two small silver hoops in each ear. He also wears a silver bracelet on each wrist engraved with strange symbols. These are symbols of his family and clan and he will not remove them even if commanded. Background: Maryn is a member of the Gwerin tribe, a northern island people who were conquered and enslaved. Maryn was taken prisoner after his parents were killed and he was sold to slavers in the south. When he was twelve years old, he was sold to a palace recruiter who saw promise in his beauty. He lived in his room for five years before taking his first master. To date, he has only had three. Personality / training: Despite the fact that he has been a slave for many years, Maryn is very proud. He does not consider himself inferior to his master and he is not particularly subservient. However, he is not sullen or disobedient. He will do as he is told without complaining... out loud. He doesn't like what he does, but he has accepted it as part of his life as a slave. His few masters have always been kind and gentle with him. If his master is violent, he will be afraid and he will fight. He has not received much training because there have never been any problems with him. Room: Maryn's room is always filled with light. It has no electricity, but there is a large window overlooking a rocky bay (so that Maryn won't miss the sound of the ocean). The seat by the window as well as the marble floor are covered with soft silk pillows. The only pieces of furniture in the room are wall shelves, a low black-lacquered table in the centre of the room and a soft feather mattress by the wall. Over the years Maryn has collected little decorations and knickknacks that he keeps on the shelves. His most prized possessions are a white stone bird he shaped with a nail file since he was not allowed a knife and a wall scroll with a water colour nature scene that reminds him of his homeland.
