The White Magic Key Description Trained by Amasa Glajax (harlequinjest@aol.com) Name: Adam Jeremiah Toreador. Description: Adam is seventeen years old. He has naturally straight black hair so
black that it shines blue in the light, cut neatly a little bit past his
shoulders and worn in a plain even part, no bangs. It's the sort of hair
that never seems to tangle and feels like feathers, it's so soft. His clear
eyes are grey, the velvet color of stormclouds on the horizon. His lashes
are short and very black (for Adam, eyeliner would be redundant). His complexion
is smooth and pale. His nose is small, childish, his lips full. He is soft-voiced
with a quiet presence. He is tall, slender, and infallibly elegant and
graceful. His poise is all but legendary. Adam looks classical, aristocratic,
as though he were plucked from the portraits hung in the manors of old
families. He is usually dressed simply in long gray robes, beneath which
he wears grey drawstring pants and a sleeveless tunic, though the fabric
of the robes, if one looks closely, is rich, caresses his skin. His simple
dress only accentuates his poignant, old-fashioned beauty. When sitting
in his suite, he looks drawn from a black and white photograph.
Background: Adam hails from the Toreador Family, a Family well known for its pioneering in aesthetics. It keeps all sorts of things: a menagerie, a gallery of classic paintings and statues, etc., and is a respected patron of music, theatre, and the arts. The clan is immensely wealthy. It was in the Toreador Family that the idea of selective human breeding was brought up AND actually carried out. Adam is the sixth-generation result of that project, which has many branches by now. Adam was raised in one of the Toreador mansions specifically reserved for the results of the project. He was raised by his wet nurse, who taught him such antiquated graces as etiquette, rhetoric, and speech. He was home-schooled and an apt student. He had a beloved pet hummingbird that was given him because of its deformed beak, for which he called it Sock. The Toreador Family was one of the chief establishers of the Palace, and decided that it was time to give to the Palace something of true value. Up to that moment, they had supplied the Palace with money, materials, etc., but now, as a demonstration of their commitment to the Palace, they decided to give a Key. At age fifteen, Adam, fully trained, entered and debuted as the White Magic Key in the Palace. He was chosen to be the White Magic Key because he seemed as benign and gentle as White Magic 'should' be. Other: When viewed by a true psychic seer, Adam glows as brightly white as snow on a sunny day. The very good reason for this is that Adam was born possessed by the Angel Mihr. This possession results in an extraordinary psychic sensitivity to 'bad energy' and the carriers of it, such as liars, traitors, betrayers, the forsworn, the Roger Chillingworths of the world. He can see and hear ghosts both good and bad, as well as poltergeists, which terrify him because of their lack of any rhyme or reason. His fear of disorder and illogic stems from Mihr itself, and also manifests in Adam's compulsive neatness. Adam knows nothing of his possession. Adam can have sex with the people who make him uncomfortable (liars, forsworn, etc.), but he'll feel dizzy and nauseous afterwards, and have to lie down for some time. The Palace blandly marks Adam as 'highly sensitive' and 'prone to nerves,' but continues to market him at high price. They could do nothing less for the young man lauded as the Jewel of Toreador. Experience: From ages thirteen to fifteen, Adam was trained for his entrance into the Palace. At age fifteen, the Toreador Family presented him to the Palace as an expression of goodwill and commitment. Adam is now seventeen. He has a good head for details and minutiae, so he's a good person to ask about what's going on with the other Keys or in the Palace itself. With the amount of people who use him as a sounding board or confessional, he has enough information locked inside his head to bring down a state, or at least a couple of prominent Families. He is off-limits to those of the S&M persuasion because such treatment would seriously traumatize him. The innocence in his eyes is of a child never truly exposed to the world, and disturbingly enough, those with pedophiliac urges sometimes like to take him. Adam's spiritual radar is made quite uncomfortable by these people, though he doesn't realize why. Adam's specialties are setting the scene, and gentle foreplay. Adam can build a scene up as no one else can, with massage, candlelight, scents and oils, luscious fabrics which caress the skin, music, and slow, intimate dance. As for other details, one major erogenous zone besides the obvious is the neck. Even a glancing touch sends a jolt of electricity through him. Adam is bisexual and will take the top or bottom without a problem.
He likes to be able to see the other person's face. He has had a series
of Masters and Mistresses, but no permanent ones. He doesn't mind. He has
a very self-contained universe, in which Masters are mere interruptions,
if not unpleasant ones. He is not very romantic because he has never met
anyone he wants to be romantic with/about, and has never entertained the
notion of a Master who wants him for good. The only Masters he has ever
truly felt much of anything for are those who want a friend, but he only
feels fondness for them, and pity.
Personality and Temperament: Adam is a very gentle, calm person. He is exquisitely polite. He is at ease with one or two people, but has a terror of large crowds due to his solitary upbringing. He is thoughtful and intelligent. He finds it comforting to have set rules he can obey. He has a tendency to overanalyze. He doesn't find it a problem to put nervous patrons at their ease. It is not difficult for anyone to ask him questions about what exactly to do. Some patrons even use him as a confessional, because it seems outlandish that this pure young thing would ever betray such trust. Adam does indeed keep counsel. He doesn't have a raucous sense of humor and doesn't much appreciate dirty jokes, though a humorous and touching anecdote will bring a smile to his lips. Adam's smile has been described before as coaxing light from a star. All the Keys know Adam, but because he is reserved and restrained in social contact, he is thought of as a bit of a snob. As a Toreador, he has been surrounded by incredible beauty all of his
sheltered life. He has been spoiled because it's almost impossible to resist
the urge to want to spoil him. He doesn't miss the outside world because
he never knew it, and so he is content with his tiny universe, the Palace.
Room: Toreadors have personally furnished Adam's luxurious rooms in black, white, and grey. Once the door to his room is opened, an expansive, high-ceilinged central area is made visible. Directly across from the door is an enormous glass wall with a view of the city below it, letting Adam look out onto an enigmatic and uninviting world almost as monochromatic as his room. The carpet is a lush pale grey. The wallpaper is marble, with a trim near the floor of black fleur-de-lis. On the wall are black-and-white photographs and high-contrast, modern paintings. Arranged near the wall to the right of the entrances is a well-stocked bookcase (he has a number of books on natural science, biology, and genetics, because he finds it fascinating), several plush armchairs, a comfortable sofa with fat pillows upon it, and a plasma TV with news and music channels blocked. There is a radio on the end table next to the sofa with a variety of CDs stored beside it. There are no magazines in any of his rooms. The door to the bedroom is to the left of the entrance. The bed is an enormous canopy bed with an elaborate headboard, multiple pillows, and soft satin and silk sheets. Next to the bed is an ends table containing lube, massage oils, etc. There is a wardrobe filled with clothes and slippers for Adam as well as clothes of other sizes in case his Masters would like to change. There is a bureau with a mirror above it so that Adam can evaluate and maintain his appearance, which he is particular about. One reaches the bathroom through the bedroom. The bathroom is tiled in black and white, with an enormous, sunk-in marble tub that doubles as a small swimming pool when full. The faucets are exquisitely carved. The cabinet in the bathroom holds shampoo, soap, toilet paper, moisturizer, facial cream, and other necessary beauty/hygienic products. Everything in his rooms, even something unremarkable at first glance,
has a pattern or a flourish to it, for such is the Toreador way. Adam keeps
everything very neat because he deplores a mess.
Notes: I must credit Vampire: the Masquerade for inspiration regarding the Toreador Family. Some information on the Angel Mihr (and its complement Sorush), from Gustav Davidson's A Dictionary of Angels including the fallen angels: in ancient Persian lore, [Mihr is] the angel presiding over the 7th month (September) and over the 16th day of that month. Mihr watched over friendship and love. [Rf. Hyde, Historia Religionis Veterum Persarum.] [Sorush was, to the ancient Persians, Gabriel, "giver of souls."] The magi held that, on Judgment Day, 2 angels would stand on the bridge called al Sirat (which is finer than a hair and sharper than the edge of a sword) to examine every person crossing. Mihr would be one of those angels, Sorush the other. Mihr, representing divine mercy, and holding a balance in his hand, would weigh the person's actions performed during his lifetime. If found worthy, the person would be permitted to pass on to Paradise. If he was found unworthy, then Sorush, representing divine justice, would hurl him into Hell. [Rf. Sale, The Koran, "Preliminary Discourse," p. 64.]
