The Runic Key Description Trained by Shinigami (shinigami@worldnet.att.net) Name: Lodan Experience: A very experienced top/dom -- as a result of his direct personality, he likes to make his Masters feel good, and what better way to assure that than by taking control? However, he's not inflexible by any means, not at all. He can be submissive, and enjoys the experience, but any Master who wants to dominate him had better be up for a challenge, as he won't make it easy, by any means. As several former Masters can attest to, however, it's well worth the effort. He enjoys both plain vanilla sex as well as some B&D, but prefers to avoid hardcore S&M if he has any choice about it. Personality: Intense. When he makes up his mind about something, he throws himself into it wholeheartedly -- a few Masters find his focus unnerving (seeing as while they are with him, Lodan's focus will be *them*), but on the whole, most enjoy being the subject of such single-minded attention. Lodan likes people -- he likes meeting them, learning about them, what makes them tick. When he receives a new Master, he will dedicate himself to that Master as long as they're together. He has an uncanny ability, akin to Sherlock Holmes, to be able to gain clues about a person's history and/or personality from observing them. However, he usually keeps his mouth shut about whatever he learns, seeing as most Masters *do* find this particular quirk freaky. But this isn't to say that he doesn't use the information -- by the time he's been with a new Master for even a few encounters, he will have started to learn exactly how to anticipate his Master's wants and needs. For this reason, Lodan is usually not marketed as a short-term Key; most Masters stay with him for at least several weeks, usually a few months. The longest he has ever been with a single Master is ten months. Lodan is a sensualist, in the true sense of the word -- he revels in what his body can do for him. Not just sexually, but in all the everyday, mundane ways -- sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste. As can be expected as a result, he enjoys art, music, fine food, and sex, not necessarily in that order. However, he has a very specific sense of beauty, leaning towards finding pleasure in simple things -- the smooth lines of a lily or an orchid would appeal to him much more than a rose in full bloom, which he privately thinks rather gaudy. His favorite Master, looks-wise, for example, was rather plain overall, but had a stunning length of glossy black hair that he loved to watch the light gleam off of and run his fingers through. Lodan does not seldom get angry or depressed -- it's true that his status as a sexual slave doesn't appeal much to him when he stops to think about it, but for the most part, he's resigned himself to his work. And he doesn't have too many complaints, overall -- he gets free food and lodgings, as much sex as he could possibly ask for ... there are times when he does get wistful and thinks about the outside world, but they're rare and far between, and usually when he doesn't have a Master and thus has nothing to occupy his time. He's fairly good-natured, with a well-developed sense of humor (although he doesn't often laugh -- he has to find something incredibly funny for that to happen). When he *does* get angry, he has a tendency to withdraw, rather than outwardly expressing his displeasure. Similarly, depression makes him apathetic, rather than overly sad. Lodan is somewhat of a scholar -- he loves to read, losing himself for hours on end in a good book. He likes to ponder questions of philosophy and logic, and greatly enjoys debating such things with his Masters. He responds much more positively to those who are willing have discussions with him, rather than just seeing him solely as a sex object. He also likes to cast runes every morning -- not really because he believes in their power to tell him the future, but to help him reason within his own mind, to give himself ideas that perhaps he wouldn't have come to on his own, and to help him gain a sense of clarity for the rest of the day. Description:
Note to Owner: the site I used to consult for runic order and significance -- yes, the characters and their positions do have personal meaning to Lodan, which I'll leave up to you to deduce :D -- is http://www.tarahill.com/runes/runemean.html. It's not the most academic site on earth, but it's comprehensive and fairly accurate without dumping loads of esoteric info into your brain.) The tattoos were done by the Palace at Lodan's request shortly after his arrival at the Palace. Since the Palace saw immediately that the effect would be quite striking, they acquiesced without bothering to ask why. History: Had a happy childhood with his parents and a younger twin sister until he was around nine. Then his sister, whom he adored, died of pneumonia, and his mother killed herself out of grief. His father, unable to be around him anymore without being constantly reminded of what he'd lost (the twins took after their mother), shipped him off to the local monastery to become a priest. Lodan had been studying in their care for almost a year when the temple was raided by thieves -- he and several of the other acolytes were drugged and kidnapped to be kept as pleasure slaves. The raiders' leader saw the potential in Lodan, however, something for which Lodan will be forever grateful, and kept him untouched, deciding to sell him instead. At the auction, he was bought by the Palace, and has been there ever since. Note that despite the year he spent at the monastery, as well as being brought up in a fairly devout family, Lodan is not particularly religious. He remembers the temple and its priests fondly, because they were kind to him, but would not be particularly eager to return there. Preferred Clothing/Look: Just a pair of soft, loose pants. Always dark, often black (if not black, a dark jewel tone). The fabric depends on his mood, but it's always comfortable. Hates shirts and socks/shoes, never wears them. One of the reasons he would not be in a rush to go back to the temple is that he never could stand those heavy robes they made him wear all the time. Room: Fairly simple -- understated elegance. Plush dark carpets, soft lighting, wood-paneled walls randomly littered with canvases painted in dark, rich colors. A suite of four rooms, the main chamber containing a fireplace with a soft fur rug, overstuffed armchairs, a large sofa, and a vast bookcase overflowing with books. Adjoining the main chamber to the left is the bathroom, which contains, among the usual, a shower with multiple showerheads, and a huge jacuzzi bath (one of Lodan's indulgences). Adjoining the main chamber the right is a Lodan's general workout and playroom -- parallel bars, rings, and a huge open space with mats, both firm and soft, for tumbling. Three of the walls are mirrored. Aside from gymnastics, he also does occasional exercises with a staff or a spear, and these are contained in a rack on the non-mirrored wall. The bedroom, located between the bathroom and the playroom and connected to both, contains another fireplace, a huge four-poster bed upholstered in midnight blue, and another overflowing bookcase, next to which is a rocking chair that Lodan loves to curl up in. Against the far wall is a small table and two sturdy chairs, just enough room for two to share a meal (all of Lodan's meals are brought by Palace staff). Both the cabinet in the bathroom and the bedside table contain sexual accessories and a first-aid kit.
