General overview: Aubrey is a handsome young man with auburn hair and liquid brown eyes. He is also completely deaf. He cannot read, write, speak or sign, which makes communicating with him difficult. However, Aubrey is also extremely intelligent. He is very adept at reading body language, and can often determine what his Master wants even before he is prompted. He is considered one of the more talented Keys, and few patrons go away unsatisfied.

Physical description: Aubrey is a good-looking youth, somewhere between the ages of 15 and 20 (no one knows, except perhaps Aubrey himself). He is about 5'9", of slender build. He has auburn-red hair, silky and straight, that hangs to just above his shoulders. His eyes are golden brown, almost amber, and when they catch the light they shimmer like tiger's-eye. His skin is pale, smooth and flawless.

Attire: Aubrey likes to dress in clothing with a definite period flair. Silks and velvets are his favourites, although leather and denim are also options (if appropriate to setting). He generally wears tight-fitting pants, the better to show off his perfectly-proportioned rear. Shirts with ruffled sleeves, velvet vests, leather jackets; he likes to mix and match, giving him both an old-world and modern look.

Both ears are pierced, the left multiple times (he figured they might as well be useful for something). He sometimes wears a necklace with some gothic trinket hanging from it, but other than that, no jewellery.

Attitude: Aubrey has a positive attitude, overall. He is a willing and obedient slave, having been trained very effectively with the reward/punishment method. When he satisfies a customer, he is rewarded with things he wants: pencils and paper to draw with, etc. When he does wrong, he is kept in semi-darkness, which he hates more than anything. He is afraid of the dark.

He smiles shyly when he is treated well. He will always approach the Master to within touching range, subtly offering himself at first, and becoming more aggressive if that doesn't work. Since he cannot hear, he attempts to determine what his Master wants from body language and experimentation. He becomes very confused when a Master's body language conflicts with what the Master is telling him to do (eg, if they tell him not to do something that they obviously want or like).

He will try his best to please his Master, as long as he understands what they want. Most patrons figure out that they only need to point him in the right direction and he is compliant. However, sometimes he can't follow what they want, and they become angry. In these cases he has learnt it is best to be passive, and allow them to yell and hurt him until they calm down, and then he will try again.

Specialties: Aubrey has a very talented mouth. He is generally offered as a submissive, although he is capable of taking the lead if he determines that this is what his Master wants. He much prefers being a submissive, since it usually means his Master makes it clear what he wants.

Experience: Aubrey has had a fair amount of experience. He has been a Key for a few years now, and was taught by a sympathetic Master. He is generally treated well by his patrons, since he is one of the better Keys, but sometimes he ends up with a sadistic Master who enjoys frightening or hurting him. He endures these trials silently, as always. There is very little he hasn't tried, and he is always open to learning more.

Likes/Dislikes: His favourite pastime is drawing, with pencils, charcoals, anything he can get his hands onto. He is an excellent portrait artist, and has piles and piles of sketchbooks hidden away in his drawers. He can also sew, having often done mending work as a child. It was discovered that he has a flair for this, and he now makes many of his own clothes, and clothes for the other Keys as well.

He is also a sensualist. Perhaps because of his lack, he is very much attuned to the senses of touch, taste and smell. He enjoys rubbing his cheek against velvet or silk, and running his tongue over his Master's body to find new textures and tastes.

Quirks: Aubrey has a habit of keeping his eyes fixed on his Master's face. This is, of course, so he can determine what he is doing right and wrong, but some people find his golden gaze unsettling.

He is also completely silent. Although capable of speaking (if he knew how), he doesn't like to. It takes a very skilled master to get a vocal response from him.

Environment: Aubrey's room is fairly luxurious. A real fireplace adorns one wall, a large four-poster bed the other (chains tastefully hidden behind the gathered curtains). The floors are deeply carpeted. Tapestries and some of Aubrey's framed sketches adorn the walls. A range of 'toys' is hidden inside a panelled cedar cupboard. Adjoining the bedroom is a bathroom, fully equipped with a deep bath, shower and bench.

Background: Aubrey came to live at The Palace when he was fairly young, being sold by his trader father, who had no use for his silent son. As a child he ran errands, washed, cleaned and mended. As he grew older, the Masters began to notice his lovely red-brown hair and expressive eyes. The Boss had his doubts, but was convinced to give Aubrey a trial run, and he was put into training as a Key. He proved to be a fast learner, surpassing everybody's expectations.
