The Sparrow Key Description Trained by Sirin Gaia (sirynga@yahoo.com) Name: Sao Lan Appearance: He is 1, 73 cm tall, his thin body makes him look fragile. His long dark green hair almost reaches his waist and his big hazel eyes can change to an amber tone depending on his mood. Usually dresses in oriental stilled clothes. Story: Many were surprised when, after being accused of treason, the General wasn’t executed. Instead the emperor removed his title and rank, sending him and his pregnant wife to a treacherous territory in the mountains near the north border. Years later a boy travelled to the capital and got to the palace doors, then, with polite and calm manners, told the guards that he was the son of that general, now death due to a sudden illness, and was there following his last. Which was to swear loyalty to the emperor as well as to give him the only family treasure they still had (an antique and valuable statue of the goddess of wisdom, made of white jade and jewels and reputed for its magic qualities). Confused the guards told the captain about this and were ordered to take the boy to an office and to keep his appearance in secret. Once there the boy calmly repeated this words to the captain, asking again to be taken to see the emperor. But that man hated the death general with all his soul and being unable to take revenge in live he decided to do so in death. So instead offered the boy help to get the favours of the emperor in exchange of the statue as well as `certain´ favours. Horror-struck by the mere possibility of betraying his family like that the boy rejected the offer, but, as he stood to leave the captain grabbed him, hitting him repeatedly until he falled unconscious. Then took the boy to the palace, completing his revenge by not only keeping the treasure, but making the heir of his enemy a slave. Personality: Sao grew up in an almost isolated place, becoming a really good hunter (which was a rather necessary trait) . He is extremely good using bows and knives, and although is trained to use swords, feels more comfortable with bows. He is also a surprisingly good musician, able to play the harp and the flute. His parents educated him in strict concepts of honour and duty, and he learned all he could so his parents would be proud of him. Loves the freedom of the mountains he grew up in (probably he is he only one that actually likes living there) and, although he tries to hide it, is a rather emotional person that can be sweet and gently as well as furious and stubborn. Now, closed in the room he hides all his feelings behind polite, almost rigid manners and an expressionless face. Refusing to give his master (he thinks of them as enemy) the pleasure of seeing him scared or defeated when come into the room to `play´... which tends to end up being rather violent games when rigidly says that even if they can do anything to him he doesn’t have to cooperate. When he is alone plays and composes music, and sometimes simply sits and silently listens to the voices and sounds coming from out of his room. The Room: The room is big and octagonal shaped, the ceiling is a dome with huge glass windows containing all the colours of the rainbow. The light that comes trough them gives colours to the marble-white stone sculpted to resemble a forest of thin and leave-less trees, the middle of the room is marked by the bed, shaped as a bird nest. There is also a low table with cushions around it. The musical instruments and a few books are in a corner. There are two panels, one leading to a small garden and the other to the bathroom.
