![]() ![]() The Weather Keys The Current Official Game Relevent information: (Please read thoroughly before sending questions or requests!) To adopt any Key listed on this page, simply email the staff. How did this theme come to be chosen? - The weather theme has been the definite chosen theme for the new game for many months now. We considered doing just a generic "Nature" game, but that would include plants and animals as well as weather phenomena, and we don't want to release too many Keys and make the game more difficult to run. Perhaps the next time we run a game, the theme can somehow relate to plants and/or animals if people want this. ^_~ What took you guys so long? I've been waiting for a new game forever! - Several factors contributed to the long wait between games, including but not limited to: various real life obligations, people not following through with their Myth/Magic/Independent Keys, having to keep up with other updates on the site, working on the new layout, losing Palace e-mail more than once due to Hotmail problems, and general laziness/forgetfulness (extreme apologies for the last two there ^^;). So... yeah. If you really are that mad at us, again we're sorry How many Keys can I Train/Own in this game? - You may only train one of the Weather Keys. Same goes for Owning. That sucks! You're not being fair! I shouldn't have to do both if I'm only interested in one! - Please refer to the Palace Guidebook for the reasons behind the change in the game's rules. If you don't like the way this game is being run you are perfectly free to create an Independent Key if you only want to Train, or ask for an Independent or Lost Key if you only want to Own. There are plenty of Lost Keys from past official games who still need homes. Key Names - Remember that these Keys do not have to actually be what their name is (ie, the Tornado Key does not have to actually turn into a cyclone or have power to conjure them; he could just be a very blustery, angry man). They don't even have to be supernatural. However, the Key name does have to relate to the character in some way. New Names? - Some names have already been chosen for the game. However, there are also two blank slots. This means that you can request a completely new Key name and if it is approved, then you're free to go away and write it. However, places in the game are not infinite! Too many Keys in one game make the archive page very spammy. If there are no blank slots left, please don't request a new name (unless you're absolutely determined to have that particular name, and are prepared to bribe us with fic ;) What do the letters listed next to each Key stand for? - They represent what "type" of Key you'll be getting if you pick it. "S" is "Supernatural" (i.e.: magic powers, strange appearance, wings, fur, etc), "MH" is "Mostly Human" (i.e.: normal except for maybe a minor oddity or two, like strange hair color or something) and "H" is "Human" (completely human Key). I don't wanna do weather-y stuff/I don't like these names! - Not a worry. These Keys can be plain old humans. Alternatively, if you don't like any of the choices, you can stay on the waiting list and Train for the next game. And again, there are always Independents and/or Lost Keys up for grabs. How long do Trainers have to submit descriptions? - Two weeks. If you need a little longer (i.e. you're having real-life woes), drop us an email and we can negotiate. But if we don't hear from you in two weeks, and there's no explanation, then your Key will be given to someone else to Train. How long do Owners have to complete their work? - One month. If you need a little longer (i.e. you're having real-life woes), drop us an email and we can negotiate. But if we don't hear from you in one month, and there's no explanation, then your Key will be reclaimed and put up on the Lost Keys list, or possibly taken by a staff member. What sort of work can Owners do with their Keys? Are fics really only allowed to be short now? - The most common thing to do with a Key is to write a story, but this isn't always the case. If you think you are a better artist than writer, then by all means, draw your Key if you want! If you find that you can express your thoughts better through poetry, write a poem about your Key! Heck, if you can dream it, we'll most likely take it. :) As for long fics: the Palace Guidebook already explains this. Please check here and here for information. If I already Own another Key but haven't finished it yet, can I still Train/Own for this game? - Sorry, but no you may not. You must complete work on your current Key before you are allowed to Own a Key from the Weather game. Them's the rules, kiddies. Ok, I read all this boring stuff, now lemme get started! - Ok ^_^ Just drop an e-mail at key.palace[at]gmail[dot]com letting us know which one you want (and a second preference, just in case you don't get your first). As soon as we get your claiming e-mail, we'll send you an e-mail asking you to confirm the fact that you've read the rules and that you agree to them, as well as to ask if you're positive that this is the Key you want (sort of an "is that your final answer?" thing, if you will). Then once you've replied to that, we'll e-mail you your new Key's description, mark it as "taken" on this page and he's yours for good. ^_~
Enjoy!
