The Zenith Key - Chapter 1

Kaolin groaned in defeat, why keep on trying? The daylight wasn't going away anytime soon and the insistent knocking on his bedroom door didn't look set to be stopping until he got up and answered it. Of course he really didn't want to get up, but what can you do when someone starts shouting at you for you to open the 'fucking' door.

"Alright already," Kaolin yelled, grabbing a robe and hopping to the door as he pulled on his slippers. Gods' people were impatient. of course he was just as impatient to get away from the door as they were to get him to open it.

"Well hurry up!" Someone screamed on the other side.

Muttering vague things about the impatience of people today Kaolin slipped the locks off the door and opened it a crack, a large man covered in scars stood behind a young slave girl.

"Hello May," Kaolin chirped, ignoring the bulky man behind her. "How can I help you today?"

May was a petite young girl and smiled wistfully at Kaolin. "You'll be serving Master Ice-bridge today Kao, or rather Toben and Dien will be serving him, today. He requires Toben for sparring and well.you know why anyone requires Dien."

Kaolin shuddered, yes, he knew why the man would require Dien; Dien was one of two other personalities that had taken up residence in his head. The reason? Kaolin had traumatic dissociative identity disorder, an illness, caused by considerable mental trauma, which caused him to suffer from multiple personalities.

The personalities didn't come out when asked though, they had to be triggered and this usually caused Kaolin quite a bit of pain.

Kaolin wanted to slam the door shut on May and the scarred man 'Master Ice-bridge'. He snorted, what sort of name was that anyway? Shouldn't the man try to get a name that suited him? Like Scar-face?

"Fine." Kaolin grumbled, flinging the door open and walking away.

In the seconds Kaolin took to turn around Toben emerged, nothing physical changed about Kaolin, his hair was still the same light silver and sapphire bangs, his complexion still so pale one could almost see the veins if they shone light on his hands, his figure stayed the same, stunted from terrible incidents in his life so that he never grew body hair and his eyes remained the same amethyst pools.

The only difference in him was his stance and how the amethyst pools hardened considerably from murky waters to chips of ice.

Toben was an angry young man, full of rage, a rage that boiled in the pit of his stomach from years ago when first his family and than the elderly woman who had cared for him were slaughtered, and he made to watch as the murderers defiled the dead bodies.

The rage in him now was fuelled in an inferno at the gall this man had to waltz in and order that he-that he submit to him!

Toben stormed into his room-not the one Kaolin had so recently exited but into his very own-and picked up a considerably dull training sword.

Dien felt humiliated and exalted as his master thrust in and out of him, he loved it, the being used, it was so rewarding! Why didn't it happen everyday? Why not all the time? They always left though.his masters.always left before he a\beg for more.

"You're a little slut, did you know that?" His master grunted, biting Dien's shoulder.

"Yes master.oh yes." Dien purred, revelling in the feelings his master induced.

Kaolin felt dirty, he felt worse than dirty, he felt used, used like a rag and tossed aside onto the garbage heap, and he ached, he ached all over.and worst of all, he didn't think he could get up, he hated Dien's room,.

It was ghastly, even Toben's room wasn't so horrible at least Toben's room was slightly bearable, Dien's was hideous. And being unable to move on a very hard examination table was worse. The examination table was one of the main features of Dien's room, along with a luxurious bed and racks upon racks of shelves, filled with.toys.of various designs.

Why wasn't there anyone helping him up.oh shit.he was still there, still there and smiling, causing his face to look ever more deranged.

"Could you stop smiling perhaps? It does nothing for you features." Kaolin managed, noticing only than that it was incredibly difficult to speak, especially when one's facial features are so badly swollen it is hard to breath.

The body jerked unhappily and blinked, staring up at the dense wood that surrounded it. It knew it was made up of the four elements, Earth, Air, Water and Fire, it also knew they had combined to make it one complete being, and it knew intrinsically how much Air and Fire lusted after one another.

It sat up, and whimpered softly, looking down at itself, it was a creature designed to receive, no genitals of the male variety looked back up at it but none of the female variety looked up at it either, it's body was designed to sit between femalely alluring and masculinely handsome.unfortunately it tended more to the feminine design in body curves and the masculine design in body shape. It had no female breasts, but it had wide hips for birth, it had no genitals yet it had the strength of a man. It felt confused and most of all, it felt cold. So exposed to the elements it-it shook its head and sat up, wrapping its arms around its slim chest. "C-c-cold-d-d." it whispered shaking in the cold. It blinked, it didn't need to be cold; it could light fire.or.or.or it could go to the place Kaolin was held in.

It knocked on the door politely, it had taken some effort to get to the 'Palace', and quite frankly it was hot, sticky and could see particularly well. "OPEN!" It yelled, banging on the door again, it began again only to fall through the doorway as the door miraculously gave way. It fell into someone's arms.

"Hot!" It grumbled into the chest it'd fallen face first into, "hot and sticky," it continued, voice muffled n a light silk robe.

"And here I was thinking it was a new master," grumbled the person holding it, it didn't reply, deciding it liked being held, it had never been held before. it would like more of being held later, it was still extremely hot and sticky. Why did the place have to be in tropical rain-rain-what word was it?-forest, it had decided by the time it had reached the doors of the palace it hated rainforests.

"Clean! Need to be clean! Where is bathing room? Where!" It cried impatiently, struggling out of its holder's arms. "Where?"

It was a particularly impatient thing, Toben noted-he'd slipped into control when the banging on the door had started. Not only was it impatient but it was considerably selfish as well.

It had honed in on the bathing room like a drowning man would to water, and at the sight of such a large bathing pool, sunken into the floor it had squealed loudly and proceeded to use all of the hair soap Toben possessed and had gone so far as to use Kaolin's and Dien's in an attempt to detangle it's fine snowy hair.

In the end Toben had submitted to its furious mewls of frustration and washed its hair properly, than proceeded to go so far as washing it.

And at present he was being viciously kicked at as he tried to brush the demon's hair. "If you're not still I can't brush your hair!" Toben snarled at it, yanking just as viciously at its hair. It let out a pained scream at the brutal torment and managed to land a kick close to his groin.

"It hurts! It hurts, it hurts, it hurts! Stop it! It hurts!" It wailed miserably it had searched through four sets of memories for a memory of pain and there had been none, also, it was almost as innocent as a new born, if not more.

"Well it'll only hurt more if you keep flailing about!" Toben snarled, throwing the comb away in frustration and talking the thing to the ground, pinning its arms above its head. Who would have known that such an innocent looking creature could be so vicious!

It glared up at Toben sourly but sat as still as a statue, when Toben found a particularly evil knot it screamed again and bolted away from Toben to cower in a corner behind a few practice dummies.

"Get out," Toben growled, brandishing the comb like a weapon, it whimpered softly in fear, most of its snowy white hair untangled, except for one ridiculous knot which sat beside its left ear. "Look if you come out I'll let you play with my equipment," Toben grumbled.

It blinked at him; large blue eyes stared up fearfully at Toben, "Are you being real for?" It asked cynically; inching forward slightly.

Toben opened his mouth to reply with some smart arse comment but stopped, sighed and rubbed his eyes wearily. "Yes, brat, I am being for real, now how about letting me get that tangle from your hair and putting it up? Than you can play with my equipment."

Toben had possessed no idea that the little runt would be so energetic, by the time he fell onto the pallet in his room he was aching from the unusually hard and horrifically long training session. To make matters worse, the runt didn't even know how to use the weapons! It'd just avoided, not that that was a bad thing, but it had left Toben with unusually sore muscles.

"No, no! You come sleep on big bed with me!" The runt cried, tugging at Toben, whose muscles groaned in the protest, they'd lined up and so far were awaiting there turn to complain to him about unfair practices.

"Which one?" Toben asked wearily, allowing himself to be led from one room to another, Kaolin's. "Really.do we-" which the runt just pulled him through, dragging him into Dien's. "Why here.?" Toben grumbled.

"BIG BED!" It cried, flopping limply onto the large plush bed, larger than the other two in the previous rooms.

"Big bed.yeah." Toben hated Dien's room, in his mind Dien was weak, he never fought, never refused, he was always begging, but right now Toben really didn't give a shit that the runt had chosen Dien's room a) because it was right, the bed was the biggest and softest and b) because he he'd just suffered the most intense workout in his life.

Kaolin cracked open an eye and looked at the creature which looked back at him, and had the decency to look thoroughly ashamed with itself. And why? There was a very, very wet patch on the bed, and it was sitting on it.

"Wet the bed me thinks." It mumbled softly, blushing a deep crimson. "Sorry."

Kaolin sighed; from what he could pick up from Toben's ranting and raving the little creature had the intelligence of an adult but it was mixed in with a dash of too much innocence and a pinch of childish behaviour, as if it was growing up.

With another sigh, Kaolin sat up. "That's alright; a cleaner will change the bed sheets tomorrow, for now why don't you come with me and get cleaned up?" Kaolin asked tiredly. Being woken up in the middle of the night, and by his master, wasn't his idea of a proper master.

"'M sorry." it whispered sadly, tumbling to the floor in a jumble of oversized clothes. Kaolin's eyes widened, it wasn't very often he met someone smaller than himself. The little creature appeared to both smaller than him and yet taller than him, it was certainly odd.

"It's alright sprite, you didn't mean to do it I'm sure," Kaolin grumbled, tumbling down beside the sprite almost as ungracefully as it. "Really.you not Toben are you?"

Kaolin laughed softly, disturbing the eerie quiet of the room. "No, I'm Kaolin, Toben went away when you went to sleep."

"Aaah." A sagely nod.
