Instamatics #93

Color bursts across the sky and through my mind as I enter you. I feel you shudder, tipping your head back to rest on my shoulder so you can look skyward. As the colors fade, I steal a moment to nuzzle your neck, letting the salt-sweat taste of you burst onto my tongue. Then I pull back, thrusting inside you again as the next volley of fireworks brightens the night.

Incredibly beautiful.

Even as a kid, I adored them. While other kids cried at the loud boomings, I reveled in the rhythm, feeling the deep vibrations through my body, loving the contrast between the dark bass rumblings and the treble play of light and color. I cried when their music was over.

Powerfully vivid.

I move with you slowly, wanting to make it last, wanting to feel our fire forever. Your skin is bathed with shifting color, a work of art against the stark rooftop. It reminds me of an acid trip, all swirling colors and intensity, a time when the music came alive and I could touch it, taste it, smell it, see it, be it.

Fantastically surreal.

I focus on the sky, watching as the explosions burst like giant jellyfish across the heavens. We don't need to speak to know that we remember. Though distant in both time and place, it was a stolen moment of pleasure and wonder amidst pain, discovery and fantasy amidst disillusionment. We saw the spectacle, the saucer with sparkles raining down around us, and we took the moment to make a wish.

Strangely extraterrestrial.

The show is reaching its finale. The fireworks come faster, intermingling with one another in brilliant flashes of color and sound. We join the rhythm, letting our passion build quickly, demanding complete surrender, total victory. Our cries join the symphony as our climax flares, swallowing us in the energy of light. We free-fall, together in a most elemental way. As momentary silence settles around us, I gather you close, grateful beyond words that you are with me to celebrate.

Glorious freedom.
